Discussion:
Some friendly advise for those who will be new to StackOverflow because of the list moving

1. Read the FAQ (http://stackoverflow.com/faq)

2. Until you get *50 rep* you will not be able to comment on *others
questions and answers. *You can comment on your question and answers below
50 rep., Do not use an answer to post a comment as that will cause you to
get down votes on your answer from others and cause your to lose rep. If
that does happen then delete the answer to recover your points. If you have
an answer then by all means post it as an answer. That is one of the
fastest ways to get to 50 rep. It's hard at first to get rep and you may
feel frustrated because it will seem like everyone may be making it hard
for you to get rep but they really aren't, they just want to you learn the
ethos there.
3. Just because someone accepted an answer for a question does not mean it
is the right answer to your same or similar question.
4. Just because an answer has the most votes does not necessarily mean it
is the right answer. The first answers to a question get lots more votes
because people see them first and then don't revisit the question latter to
change their vote.
5. Don't feel obliged to accept an answer, if you don't like the answer(s),
edit your question or post a comment to let them know why you are not
accepting an answer(s). See http://stackoverflow.com/a/10423829 where the
OP wanted more info.

6. If you find that you were so lost and didn't even know what to ask but
had to start somewhere ask a question but be open to
a. Changing the question before someone answers if people leave you
comments
b. Deleting the question so no answers can be given and then asking a
new better question.
c. Allowing someone else to edit your question to make it better.

7. If your not sure what to do, then ask a question at the meta site (
http://meta.stackoverflow.com/)

8. Don't up-vote lots of answers by Ter in one day using his profile (
http://stackoverflow.com/users/275496/the-antlr-guy) as this will trigger
the serial up-vote detector (http://meta.stackoverflow.com/q/126829) and
cause Ter to have big red marks on his rep meter. See red mark on April 3
that I caused. (

)
If you want to review Ter's answers using the answer list in his profile,
don't upvote more than 5 in a row in a single 24 hour period. If you notice
I spread the voting out over several days following the reversal to give
the rep again, but more importantly to say that those were the right
answer. Sorry Ter but I sometimes I had to vote for other people's answers.

Also, I know others here hang out at SO so please join in on the advise I
missed.

It becomes really friendly once you use it for a while and up your rep. The
basic rules are there for protection against trolls.
